Welcome to the
Department of Architecture
With the objective of providing an education program at an international level, the Department of Architecture at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology offers a 5-year Architecture program. The key objective of the department is to provide students with a professional, intellectual and diverse education resulting in a wide range of opportunities within architecture.
The teaching of architecture at BUFT primarily occurs in the studio. However, workshops, lectures, seminars, and research projects all contribute to architectural education. A broad range of topics are introduced and integrated in the curriculum, including sustainability, computation, materials, fabrication, infrastructure, politics, social engagement, and cultural theory. The architecture design studio is the laboratory where these topics intermingle and students synthesize design concepts.
Program of Study
The department functions under the umbrella of Faculty of Architecture & Planning of BUFT offers one undergraduate program leading to Bachelor of Architecture degree.
Bachelor of Architecture (Code: 201)
Bachelor of Architecture is a five-year program taught from a broad range of perspectives. Diverse architectural design studios are offered within the program. The studio sequence begins with instruction in design fundamentals and continues with design projects of increasing complexity.
Students who opt for Bachelor of Architecture program as their field of study can specialize in the study area of design skills, geometric disciplines, cultural and theoretical precedents, and materials and construction. Studios provide students the opportunity to broaden their experience of culture, contexts, and varying scales for design, and develop their own attitudes and positions toward architectural production.
