Department of
Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE)

Welcome to the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) website. It is a field of engineering that generally comprises of a number of subfields including electrical power engineering, electromagnetism, electronics, digital computers, telecommunications, electrical machinery and drive systems, control systems, RF engineering, signal processing, instrument, and microelectronics.

Curriculum of this department is designed to develop creativity and leadership qualities to build up expertise in any branch of Electrical and Electronic sectors in Bangladesh. At present the department is offering a 4-year B.Sc. program and it consists of very good quality faculty members, skilled technical officers, office staff and technician. The dedication of this department involves establishing a knowledge-based academic environment where the skilled faculty members offer their best output and students are encouraged to show their best performance.

Program of Study

The department functions under the umbrella of Faculty of Engineering Studies of BUFT and offers a 4-year undergraduate program leading to Bachelor of Science in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (B.Sc. in EEE) degree. The program is constructed of an interdisciplinary curriculum drawing on diverse sciences, mathematics and electrical & electronics engineering principles.

B.Sc. in EEE (Code: 000)

Electrical engineering and electronics are two of the most important areas of today's economy. Engineers trained in Bangladesh are seen as experts in these technologies and are in high demand worldwide. The aim of this undergrad program is to prepare students for professional roles.

Profile of the program
  • Name of the Degree: Bachelor of Science in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, abbreviated as B.Sc. in EEE
  • No. of credits: 169
  • Language of Instruction: English
  • Courses Start: Spring (January) & Fall (July) each year
  • Standard time to attain the Degree: Four years (eight semesters, six months each)
  • Minimum grade to attain the Degree: 2.50 in a scale of 4.00

The level of education and mandated study hours of the program mean that graduates can take on roles typically found in non-technical areas.

These include roles with manufacturing firms relating to the servicing, testing, manufacture, sales, project planning, consultancy and marketing of electrical engineering components, equipment and systems. Other roles may involve the specification, procurement, testing and integration, as well as operation and maintenance, of components, equipment and systems with client firms and service providers.

The wide range of employment areas requires an equally broad-based education in - the mathematical and natural science principles necessary for technology-based subjects, engineering principles of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and computer science, as well as in-depth training in the core areas of electrical engineering: lectrical power engineering, communications technology and electronics.

Students will learn basic engineering and natural science principles and methods and the thinking that lies behind them, basic specialist principles of messaging and communications technology, basic specialist principles of high voltage engineering and be able to handle electrical current safely and responsibly, basic specialist principles of computer engineering, basic specialist principles of semi-conductor technology, basic specialist principles of control engineering and Will be able to pursue their preference for a commercial or academic career via their choice of electives.

Accreditation of the Program

The syllabus for B.Sc. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering program has been designed with experts from BUET and according to the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh. The syllabus has been submitted to the UGC of Bangladesh for approval.
